Kevin Skvarna

Hello, my name is Kevin Skvarna and I am a 19-year-old surfer/student from San Juan Capistrano, Californian. I’m currently at Saddleback Community College working towards a bachelor’s degree in business. I started surfing when I was very young with my dad down at San O. The ocean has always been my passion and has been the place where I find peace of mind. I spent all my summers growing up down at junior lifeguards learning how to read the ocean and handle myself in waves. During the summer I work fulltime as a lifeguard for Orange County lifeguards which guards all my local beaches and I instruct at the same Jr. Lifeguard program I grew up in.  I started surfing in local surf competitions when I was in 8th grade and became hooked to improve my surfing ever since. Since then, I’ve been a member of the Oceanside Longboard Surf Club and have competed in the California Coalition surf contests up and down the coast. I surf all kinds of boards from traditional California noseriders to kneeboards and anything in between I can get my hands on. I’ve had the amazing opportunity to travel the world to surf. I qualified for the WSL longboard tour when I was 16. Since then, I’ve traveled to several countries such as Australia, China, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Mexico and a couple others. I’m completely hooked on traveling and getting out of my comfort zone. Right now I’m working towards a longboard world title, with the hope that I can bring it home staying true to my preferred style traditional surfing.
